Amongst the hound group are some of the oldest breeds in the world. For thousands of years man has hunted animals for food and sport, originally using primitive trapping methods, bows and spears, but hound breeds evolved to aid man in his important pursuit of chasing game. Many of the dogs depicted on tombs of the pharaohs and in other Egyptian art clearly fall into this group. |
