Dog Types
Less well-known than the Bull Terrier is the Miniature Bull Terrier which follows the same breed standard. In Britain, the only difference is that the height should not exceed 35.5 cm (14 in), but there should still be an impression of substance. Under FCT rules both the Bull Terrier and Miniature are classified as the same breed, but the former is referred to as 'Standard'. The weight of the Miniature is about 1 1-15 kg (24-33 lb). The eyes appear narrow and are obliquely placed, triangular and well sunken. They should either be 'black' or as dark brown as possible so as to appear black, giving a piercing glint. The small, thin ears are placed closely together and can be held stiffly erect so that they point upwards. On pure whites, skin pigmentation and markings on the head are not to be penalized. In colored dogs, the color should predominate and, all other things being equal, brindle is preferred. |
