Dog Types
Less well known than the smooth-coated Vizsla, the Hungarian Wire-haired Vizsla has been enjoying a great deal of popularity in Britain since the beginning of the 1990s. The Hungarian Wire-haired Vizsla differs from the other Vizsla primarily in coat and in the fact that weight is not specified in the breed standard; indeed this dog should be well-boned without losing its elegance. Height is again 53-64 cm (21-25 in). Also russet-gold in color, in the Wire-haired Vizsla small white feet on chest and feet should not be penalized. The coat is lustreless, the head hair short and harsh but longer on the muzzle, forming a beard. Eyebrows are pronounced and hair on the ears is longer and finer. Over the body the hair is longer, with short harsh hair on the forelimbs. This is a gentle-mannered, affectionate breed, fearless, and with a protective instinct. |
